Colleen Chen, Director of Helicopter Operations

Colleen Chen, a native of Bedford, New Hampshire, has been in aviation for the past 28 years. In her role as Director of Helicopter Operations for ASSIST, she will oversee the flight operations and maintenance of projects that require rotary wing support.

Colleen has over 6100 hours of flight time in an eclectic career that ranges from operating a flight school in New Hampshire, to flying a news helicopter in Boston, to flying tours and charters in Arizona, Las Vegas, Hawaii, and New York City, to corporate aviation in New York City. She has experience in at least ten different rotorcraft, ranging from the Robinson R-22 to the Sikorsky S-76. In her various roles, she has been responsible for the design and implementation of flight operations, marketing, and business development.

Colleen is the founding member of Vertical Ventures Aviation, which, in 2014, teamed up with ASSIST to provide rotorcraft support to expand the breadth of their already thriving fixed-wing operations. With the recent establishment of a rotary wing, ASSIST will be able to provide aviation solutions better suited for rotorcraft, such as low-altitude requirements for utility work.

Colleen currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Whirly Girls, where she also serves as the Scholarship Director, and is on the Board of Directors of New Hampshire Public Television. Throughout her career, Colleen has had the opportunity to fly numerous celebrities, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Pierce Brosnan, and Ricky Martin. As a corporate pilot, she has flown the Washington Redskins, the owners of US News and World Report and the Daily News, and several business magnates. She currently resides with her family in northern New Hampshire.
